Daily Prayer and Meditation Guides

Recently I have been thinking seriously about daily readers that have influenced my journey. I want my children to know about these books. They may never read them, but somehow it is important to me that I create a record of things like this.

I picked three that have been most important - Daily Word, Simple Abundance and Pocketful of Miracles. As I started making my Squidoo page about them, it seemed to take on a life of its own - and there were videos and prayer quotes and suggestions for gratitude lists.

It is a joy to make a site like that and I would love to share it with you. So do stop by and visit if you have a few minutes. I'd love to see you!

Thank you!

Peter and Peeps

This man must be such a peaceful soul -- I just cannot imagine how he was still enough for the hummingbird to feed her baby in his hands !

Tate Family Reunion Parade

Last week was so exciting. My friend and co-host on Internet Radio arrived in South Carolina for the Tate Family Reunion and a trip to Seabrook Island!

Kate Loving Shenk aka Mukunda22 immediately jumped into all the activities of our wild and crazy weekend reunion. Our reunion includes singing, dancing, bingo and even our own little parade. This year we marched around the square in Pendleton SC. We dress in our family colors and parade with every bit of gusto we can create! It's always fun but I do think this year was the best ever!

Kate really enjoyed the alligators at Seabrook Island. And the birds, and a possum who greeted her just outside the screened porch! She even saw a dolphin stranding!

It was an exciting and fun week, and a joy to finally meet Kate after 3 years of internet friendship! Sister Nancy even made a little "Flat Stanley" look-alike for us. Her name is SquidLou. Do stop by and visit the SquidLou site on Squidoo!

Boogie Woogie

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T REMEMBER, HERE IS HOW THE BOOGIE WOOGIE WAS DONE!

The male dancer is super . . . never moves his shoulders compared to what his feet and knees are doing. I love his pants!

This is a pianist from Switzerland who plays some of the best Boogie Woogie anywhere. He is so BIG over there, they hold a week- long Boogie Woogie contest every year and all the best players in the world are invited. In this video he is joined by 2 amazing dancers... The male dancer even has a haircut from the forties.

Personal Ceremonies and Celebrations

When was the last time you had a celebration or ceremony just for yourself? I have some ideas for you at this Squidoo lens - How to Create a Celebration for Yourself

What is your most recent accomplishment? Did you lose 5 pounds since Christmas? Create a ceremony to celebrate the event. It will help you to remember that you did it once, and you can do it again. What if you made yourself a certificate of accomplishment with a big gold star on it? You can do that on your computer. Hang it on your wall where you will see it often, and as you hang it, proclaim out loud, "Joan, I am so proud of you! You did it! Thank you for not eating that cake last Saturday, and walking every day, too! You are a true champion!" Or something like that! Reward yourself with tons of praise! And have some fun with it!

Now what will you celebrate next week?

The Lord's Prayer

This has to be one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen - Andrea Bocelli and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing The Lord's Prayer. Take a few moments today to join them.

Opera in the Marketplace

Again this week, I received a moment of joy in my email. Thank you, Marsha.

These events are important because they remind us to be joyful wherever we are -- and to be open to delightful surprises and enjoy life!

I hope this one also makes you smile today - and remember, wherever you go next week, watch for the joyful moments and relish them!

Opera singers disguised as shopkeepers were selling produce at various stalls last month at the central market in Valencia , Spain . Suddenly Verdi's Il Travatore started playing over the loudspeakers, and watch what happened.

Flying a Helicopter

My friend Janice just called! She piloted a helicopter for the first time today! Yippee!

She said, "I was proud of me for not backing out, I was proud that I breathed the whole time, and when he handed me the wheel, I did not panic. I didn't throw up either!"

A few years ago, Janice moved west to accept a new job. Not long after that, she bought her first house. In fact, her life since she moved to Oregon has been one victory after the other.

When she was here at Christmastime, she told me "I am going to learn to fly helicopters!" I laughed, "you probably will!"

And she is doing just that!

Why is all this female chatter worth writing about? It's all about taking a chance, learning something new, breaking out of your rut and making your own dreams come true. What would you like to do this year that you have only dreamed about in the past? Want to fly a helicopter? Ride an Elephant?

Whatever your dream, please go for it! I will be your cheerleader!

A friend reminded me once, "we are not going to graduate from life. We are not in school anymore. This is it!"

Now is the time to go for your dreams, take those classes, ride that elephant, fly that helicopter! Today!

The Ten Year Journal

My favorite journaling technique is the Ten Year Journal

Most of us have time to write 5 little lines every day -- and that is all that is required with the Ten year journal. To see how I use this journal, simply visit the link above.

Or go to Amazon now and check it out. This journal is a beautiful gift too. I have used it for wedding gift for senior couple and they love it. It's super for new moms, high school students, college students, and anybody who loves paper and pen!
